We are not just a big offshore loft. We are a real sail loft located in Chicago, IL USA on the shores of Lake Michigan.

We are real racing and cruising sailors, on the water and in the loft, who are here to support our sport and move it forward into the future.

Our goal is to streamline your custom sail and rigging purchase experience, make it zero hassle, saving you time and money, and when possible will do everything we can to make that happen.

If you have any problems with your purchase, please contact us as soon as possible via phone, chat, or email so we can make it right.

That being said, we do have to follow some standard policies:

Purchase Policy

All online purchases made on 180sails.com or its subsidiaries are subject to the terms and conditions of this website, privacy policy, warranty, shipping, and return policies.

All purchases are subject to review before the order is processed for accuracy. We reserve the right to accept, deny, change, modify, cancel, or refund your order.

We reserve the right to correct any error in product price, dimension, shipping costs and method, or product specifications or description.

As sails are custom items, we may contact you to confirm measurements, dimensions, material type, finishing, shipping, etc. before processing your order or shipping any products.

For custom sails, you are responsible for signing off on or providing us the correct final build measurements. After your order is submitted online, we will contact you to confirm these. If you can not provide us with measurements, or in doubt, we can arrange for measurement of your boat or a sister ship through one of our partners.

If you have questions or there is anything wrong with your purchase please contact us ASAP and we will do our best to resolve any issues.

Shipping Policy

Your order will ship via a major carrier with a tracking number.

Most orders placed during normal business hours are processed within 24-48 hours. Please allow more time for processing during holidays or busy seasons.

Standard items which are in stock (non custom rigging or custom sail orders or out of stock/backorder items) are usually shipped the next business day.

Out of stock or backorder items may be placed, but will be held until all items on the order can ship. Please contact us with any special requests for these items.

Sails are custom items which normally take at least 4-6 weeks to process, design, build, and ship. This is normal lead time for the sailmaking industry. Please allow for this when placing your order and choosing the shipping method.

You should expect to receive your sail 4-10 weeks after your order depending on the lead time and shipment method. If you need a sail faster, we may be able to accommodate you, please contact our sailmaker to arrange for expedited design and building, which may incur additional costs.

If after 6 weeks, you have not received your sail, please contact us. There are times when lead times are extended for conditions outside our control or a material required may not be available or delayed. If this is the case we will do our best to inform you and work with you to resolve it.

All products are shipped and sold FOB 180sails.com headquarters in Illinois, USA. Some products may be shipped from other warehouses, production facilities, or other vendors are required to fill your order at our discretion.

Return Policy

If you’re looking to return or exchange your order for whatever reason, we’re here to help!

We offer free returns within 30 days of purchase. You can return your product for store credita different product, or a refund to the original payment method.

Please note the following exceptions to our return and refund policy:

  • Sails purchased using our sail builders are custom made items to special order and are covered by our industry leading 3 year warranty which can be seen here an can not be returned or exchange without sailmaker approval. If a sail is the wrong size upon arrival, contact us within 30 days of receipt, and we will work with you to fix the issue under warranty.
  • Discounted items are final and cannot be returned or exchanged
  • Returned items must have tags still on and be returned in original product packaging
  • Returned items must have no visible signs of wear or use

To initiate a return, please complete the following steps:

  1. Reply to your order confirmation email to request which products you would like to return
  2. Correspond with us to determine the best course of action and obtain a Return Authorization Number (RA#)
  3. Print the prepaid return shipping label that you will receive by email
  4. Send all items back to us using the label provided

Additional Information:

  • We treat any problems with sail shape or fit on a case by case basis, as each sail is custom. If you have any problem with your sail, please contact us to speak with a sailmaker as soon as possible.
